OMG what a weekend!!! [Oct. 9th, 2005|08:43 pm]
The Appaloosa Horse Club

So I had the best weekend ever!

I went to Nj for my last appy show of the season and it was amazing... I finished my Youth Superior Championship Award, which is the highest award a youth can recieve... okay so here are the specifics---

350 points are to be earned for this award. These points must be earnedin a minimumof five horse shows under a minimum of five jugdes.Of the 350 points, a minimum of 105 Showmanship at halter, a minimum of 140 points must be earned in Performance classes, with a minimum of 35 points earned in three of the four performance sub-categories (other then Showmanship). The remaning 105 points may be won in elective youth activites events.

In short, you run all around the country going to all these shows you have multiple horses and you kick ass....

As of August I needed 7.5 games points, and as of this morning I needed 5.5. So you could say that I choked hard core. Yesterday I ran my best games event (poles) and knock a pole my first heat automatically knocking me out of the points. It rained BUCKETS of water, and I got all these kids to fill for me.. But I killed it and got out of the keyhole. So I was disparing to the tenth degree... But luckily for me Appy people are the BEST. I came out this morning and they all schooled it on there own free will (besides 2 kids that are runing for high point) so i was 3rd in the figure 8 leaving me with 1.5 points left. Went in the barrels got a by. Won 2 more heats and was 2nd... So the that gave me 8 more points finishing my youth superior. Appy people rock I was amazed and touched at how giving they were, I never knew how good a friends I had untill today... Ok i g2g or else i might start crying again!!

I finally did it!

Petition for National Show [Sep. 21st, 2005|10:34 pm]
The Appaloosa Horse Club

[mood |aggravatedaggravated]

The ApHC wants to move the National show from Oklahoma City to Jackson. (I'm pretty sure it's Floriday)

Oklahoma City's fairgrounds are in a good central location for the show. The OKC Fairgrounds is improving their showgrounds and is increasing their prices to host the show. When many ApHC members filled a survey many were against moving the show to Jackson. Some are against it due to the crime rate. My one friend lived there and she said she'd defintely not go to the Nationals if they moved it there. She's gone every year almost for the past 10 years.
Others who live in the west coast would be further. I believe I heard that the hurricane has damaged the show grounds, not totally sure about that fact. But did the board members heed the members that voted for them, of course not.

My friend is organizing a petition to hopefully convince the Board to vote against moving the showgrounds to Jackson.

I can't afford to show at the Nationals. But the simple fact that the ApHC Board aren't doing what majority of the membership is wanting it to do is what really ticks me off.

My friend organizing the petion's email is astrideapp@msn.com

Send your name and your membership # to her.
I'm 95% sure only Non-Pro and Open membership voters. But youth send your name too as well.

Prepare for an Exciting Ride at the World’s Most Prestigious Appaloosa Show

Is anyone planning on going to the world show to compete or just to watch? If I had the money I would love to go just to see the competition. Who knows maybe next year. =)

Sharing the Appy love... [Sep. 15th, 2005|06:43 pm]
The Appaloosa Horse Club
Hello everyone! I lease a 16.1hh, 24yr. old (though if you were to ask him, he'd say 5!) Appy gelding named "Finnian". Earlier in his career, he competed in show jumping and retired as a champion. He has been my pleasure horse for the past year and has already taught me SO much. The following picture is an older one (he's a bit more white now!) and I'd like to note that I'm not the rider. Please let me know what you think!

This stallion in my opinion is beautiful. He's a built a little downhill, but gorgeous. :)

Any other stallions you guys have fallen in love with?

I'm liking the Dutch WB stallion Judgement. All Hands on Zip produces nice babies too. Known a few great horses.

What's in a Name? [Sep. 14th, 2005|09:20 pm]
The Appaloosa Horse Club

[mood |giddygiddy]
[music |"Everyday is Exactly the Same" by Nine Inch Nails]

We got the 22 acres and of course my dad pops the question, "What are you gonna name your farm?"

Well I've been thinking for the past 6 or whatever years that I wanted to have a farm.

Here are my choices:

Been thinking about the name of my future farm.
Star Farm (Stables)
Shining Star Farm
Firestarter Stables
Sleeping Dragon Farm

With the farm names with Star in them. I was thinking about a logo with a horse jumping over the farm name with stars as spots on the rump.
I guess the motto could be "Our Spots Shine Bright." Sounds a bit tacky. But good mottos generally are.

I like Star Stables, it's nice and simple. But it would have the initials of SS. I've been taking way to much Nazi related history. *x*

Firestarter Stables.
A dragon breathing fire and the fire spells out Firestarter Stables.
Tacky motto: "We put the fire into tomorrow's champion riders and horses."
My dad thinks it sounds to destructive.
But I like this one. I want my riders to be aggressive and to kick some buttha and I want my horses to kick some behind as well.

but I've kindof fell in love with the sketches I have of Star Stables. *x*

augh the choices.

Sleeping Dragon Farm
::shrugg:: a sleeping dragon as the logo I guess.

If all else fails....

what do you think?

hello [Sep. 12th, 2005|11:25 pm]
The Appaloosa Horse Club

[mood |dorkydorky]
[music |Vow by Garbage]

My name is Anna. I own a 2yo Appy filly named Lilly. Her livejournal is lillymarie03. She's a little silly but also has a slight princess attitude. We just went to Lexington, VA for an App show we did well especially in the FPD Halter class.

We put a contract on 22 acres in Farmville, VA. I want to breed Appaloosa sporthorses that can compete on the ApHC circuit as well as the open circuit. The tobianos have finally gotten their respect on the open circuit it's now time for the Appy colored horses to earn theirs.

Well I'll be off now.
